Jon is the 2012 Wisconsin Duck and Pheasant Stamp Winner. He has also previously won the Wisconsin Pheasant stamp in 2007.

Jon took private art lessons at the age of 12, however he is mostly self-taught. He continues to paint today, getting ideas from nature. He spent the past fall duck hunting on the Bay of Green Bay with his son Ryan and Labrador retriever aptly named "Drake".

He is constantly researching and photographing landscapes, trees, waterfowl, upland game, fish and anything else he finds interesting, where he is looking for that next idea to put up on the easel.

For Jon, winning a stamp is a special honor. Sales of the pheasant stamps bring in more than $370,000 for conservation and management of pheasants in the state of Wisconsin. Sales of the duck stamp are used for protecting the habitat of waterfowl, as well as other species in the state of Wisconsin and Canada.

Welcome to Jon Rickaby's Wildlife Art Site

Jon currently resides in Green Bay, Wisconsin with his wife and two children. He has been painting for 25 years. He spent much of his youth hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature at the family cottage in northern Wisconsin. He has a deep appreciation for the natural world. His love for wildlife is what pushes him to excel at what he does, bringing realism to his art. His hope is that he can convey his time in nature to the viewer, allowing them to experience the natural world as he does, through his art.

To date, Jon has won 3 conservation stamps. In 2012 he was a double winner in Wisconsin where he won both the waterfowl and Pheasant habitat stamp contests. This is only the second time in the history of the three stamp design contests that the same artist has painted the winning design for both the Pheasant and Waterfowl stamps in the same year.
